I wonder,
if I am to be awarded a prestigious government service scholarship, is it necessary to put on the airs of someone who scoffs at the inefficacy of current processes in ministries, chortles at fond memories of Yale, Cambridge (or both), lamenting the cultural chasm in modern Singapore while duckspeaking vociferously with an ah the vermicelli voice?
Please let me know, because I don’t really want to lose myself. And sing the lines from Karma Police.
I knew from the moment I met him that this NS Man, now LTC (vol), was an ACSian. The way he carried himself, the eloquence that this organization has not the faintest idea of, the charisma and the visage that considered, dwelt upon and responded in kind to every word you said. There was a twinkle in his eyes when he threw back his head (as hard as a man of 60 can throw his head back) as I mentioned that I was an ACSian too.
It’s fitting that he soon let on that he was the treasurer of the OBA. He happens to be looking for new members as well. I’m passing him the list of those interested to him on Thursday so let me know if you’re interested hor.
Actually, what struck me was how pronounced his nod, when I told him, that ”ACS has changed, Sir”.
He truly understood.

Haha, a dead giveaway, this kind of post… stay faithful to the dream, my friend. And it doesn’t matter what university you go to as long as it’s the right one.

interesting first paragraph. idealistic as it may sound, wouldn’t the scholarship have accepted you for who you are, so why change that. if i do get that scholarship i’m going to make sure i still can do things like speak singlish and keep fond(er) memories of acs rather than whatever college i end up at. college is 3/4 years. acs is your blood.
i’ve little or no association with such practices as mentioned there, whether by family, by location or by acquaintance. so should getting a gov’t scholarship make me someone like that? i very much wouldn’t want it to.
besides, since when are we known for conforming to the common alignments =D
and is it too late to get my name on that oba list?

nah dude my thoughts were based on a chance meeting with a psc scholar, made me think about what they were looking for, what constitues a psc scholar and what kinda person i wanna project myself as. Basic existential questions la. haha. but ehh what has sch spirit/singlish gotta do with it?
And for oba we all have to go to the website and sign up -_- i’ve already let em know bout us though.
soccer on sat? i actually might be free. hahaha
